About this calculator

APR (Annual Percentage Rate) is a simple, non-compounded yearly rate, while APY (Annual Percentage Yield) accounts for compounding — reinvesting each period’s earnings so they themselves start earning. The conversion is APY = (1 + APR/n)^n − 1, where n is the number of compounding periods per year; crypto staking platforms often compound daily, or advertise a continuous-compounding equivalent, both of which push the effective yield noticeably above the headline APR.

Crypto investors run into this constantly because platforms are inconsistent about which figure they advertise — one staking pool quoting “12% APR” and another quoting “12% APY” are not offering the same real return, and the gap widens the higher the rate and the more frequent the compounding.

This calculator takes a staking APR and compounding frequency, converts it to the true APY, and shows the resulting year-end balance on your deposit.
