About this calculator
Average order value (AOV) is total revenue divided by number of orders — one of the core metrics ecommerce teams watch alongside conversion rate and traffic. The lift from a specific tactic (a product bundle, a free-shipping threshold, a "frequently bought together" upsell) is calculated two ways: the dollar lift (new AOV − base AOV) and the percentage lift ((new AOV − base AOV) ÷ base AOV × 100), since a $5 increase means something very different on a $30 cart than on a $300 cart.
Ecommerce merchandisers, growth marketers, and CRO (conversion-rate-optimization) teams use this figure to justify a bundling or upsell strategy before rolling it out storewide, and to A/B-test one offer against another using a single comparable number rather than raw revenue, which is skewed by traffic volume.
