About this calculator

This body temperature converter switches a reading between Celsius and Fahrenheit using F = C × 9/5 + 32 and C = (F − 32) × 5/9, then compares the result against the widely cited normal core temperature of 37 °C (98.6 °F) to show how many degrees above or below normal you are.

Because thermometers sold in the US display Fahrenheit while most of the rest of the world — and nearly all medical literature — uses Celsius, a mismatch between the device and the reference range you were given is a common source of confusion. Parents checking a child's fever, nurses charting vitals, and travelers using a thermometer bought abroad use this calculator to convert instantly and see at a glance whether a reading like 38.5 °C or 101 °F falls inside or outside the normal 36.1–37.2 °C range.
