About this calculator

This calculator applies two discounts one after another — not added together — using final price = original × (1 − d₁) × (1 − d₂), which is why "30% off, then an extra 20% off" is not the same as a flat 50% off; the second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the combined effect is smaller than adding the two percentages.

Shoppers use it to see the real final price on stacked store promotions and coupon codes, while retailers and pricing managers use it to plan markdown schedules and clearance sales without accidentally underpricing stock. The calculator also shows the effective single-discount percentage, so you can compare a two-step promotion directly against a simple one-time discount.
