About this calculator

The healthy weight range for a given height is the span of body weights that keep Body Mass Index (BMI = weight ÷ height²) within the World Health Organization's normal band of 18.5 to 24.9. Rather than giving a single “ideal” number, this calculator inverts the BMI formula at both boundary values to return a minimum and maximum weight in kilograms for your exact height, reflecting the fact that a healthy weight is a range, not a point.

This range is widely used as a screening reference by clinicians, dietitians and fitness professionals during checkups and goal-setting, since it's fast to calculate from just height and requires no specialized equipment. It's worth remembering that BMI-based ranges don't account for muscle mass, bone density, age or body composition, so they're a population-level starting point for discussion rather than a diagnosis for any one individual — athletes and older adults in particular can fall outside the “normal” band while being perfectly healthy.
