About this calculator

OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) is the gold-standard manufacturing metric from Total Productive Maintenance, defined as Availability × Performance × Quality, where each factor is itself a percentage: availability is uptime versus planned production time, performance is actual output speed versus ideal speed, and quality is good units versus total units produced.

Multiplying the three together reveals how much of the originally scheduled production time was spent making good parts at full speed with no stoppages — a world-class OEE is generally considered to be around 85%, while many plants that have never measured it discover they are running closer to 60%. Plant managers and Six Sigma / Lean teams use OEE to pinpoint whether losses come from downtime, speed, or scrap, and to track improvement over time.
