About this calculator

Under most overtime rules, hours worked beyond the standard threshold are paid at a multiplier of the regular hourly rate — commonly 1.5× ("time-and-a-half") or 2× ("double time") for holidays. The premium portion is just the extra amount above straight-time pay — for example, at 1.5×, the premium is 0.5× the regular rate for each overtime hour.

This calculator multiplies your hourly rate by your overtime hours and multiplier to get total overtime pay, then separately reports the premium — the part above what those hours would have paid at the regular rate. Hourly employees and payroll staff use it to verify that overtime shows up correctly on a paycheck and to see exactly how much extra the multiplier is worth.
