About this calculator

Medication doses for animals are almost always prescribed per unit of body weight — a vet writes an order like “5 mg/kg” rather than a fixed milligram amount, because the right dose scales with the size of the pet. Turning that into a real dose means multiplying the pet’s weight by the mg/kg rate, then dividing by the drug’s concentration to find the liquid volume to actually measure out.

This calculator performs both steps: total dose = weight × dose per kg, and volume = dose ÷ concentration. It’s a computation aid for pet owners administering a vet-prescribed medication and for veterinary staff double-checking a dosing calculation — it computes the arithmetic only and is not a substitute for a veterinarian’s prescription or dosing guidance.
