About this calculator

This calculator splits a target total weight (or volume) into resin and hardener portions according to a manufacturer's specified mix ratio, such as 2:1 or 1:1 by volume for casting epoxies, or ratios expressed by weight for some art resins — dividing the total into (ratio parts) equal shares and assigning resin and hardener their respective share counts.

Resin artists, jewelry makers and woodworkers casting river tables or coatings rely on hitting the exact specified ratio, since epoxy chemistry depends on a precise stoichiometric balance between resin and hardener; too much or too little hardener leaves the mix permanently tacky, cloudy or brittle instead of curing to a hard, clear finish.
