About this calculator

Display resolution standards give a memorable name — like 720p, 1080p (Full HD), or 2160p (4K UHD) — to a fixed pixel grid, such as 1920×1080. Beyond the pixel count itself, two derived numbers describe a resolution: megapixels (width × height ÷ 1,000,000) and aspect ratio (the width-to-height ratio reduced to its simplest form, e.g. 16:9).

Video editors, photographers, and display or camera manufacturers need to move quickly between a resolution’s name and its raw pixel dimensions — checking whether a 4K UHD source (3840×2160) matches a project’s aspect ratio, or what megapixel count a given sensor resolution implies. This tool looks up a resolution by either its common name or its pixel dimensions and returns the matching details.
