About this calculator

A restocking fee is calculated as fee = item price × restocking fee percentage, and the refund the customer actually receives is refund = item price − fee (minus any non-refundable shipping, if applicable). A $200 item returned under a 15% restocking policy costs the customer a $30 fee, leaving a $170 refund.

Retailers, especially in electronics, furniture, and equipment rental, charge restocking fees to cover the cost of inspecting, repackaging, and re-shelving returned goods, and shoppers use this calculator before initiating a return to know exactly how much they'll get back.
