This tool reverses the character order of any text string, so the last character becomes the first and the first becomes the last, turning "hello" into "olleh." It works purely on the sequence of characters, including spaces and punctuation, without altering or interpreting the content itself.

People use it to create palindrome-style wordplay and social media novelty posts, to generate mirrored text for puzzles and word games, and programmers use a quick reverse tool to sanity-check string manipulation logic — such as palindrome detection — while writing or debugging code by hand before implementing it. It's also occasionally used as a very light obfuscation to make a short piece of text unreadable at a glance, similar in spirit to ROT13 but working on character order rather than substitution.
