About this calculator

Choosing ski length is a balance between stability and maneuverability: a classic rule of thumb sizes all-mountain skis somewhere between the skier's chin and the top of their head, with beginners sized toward the shorter end for easier turning and control, and advanced or expert skiers sized longer for stability at higher speeds. Discipline matters too — carving and slalom skis run shorter for quick turns, while powder and downhill skis run longer for float and stability.

Body weight and terrain preference adjust the baseline further: heavier skiers generally need a slightly longer ski for the same height to keep adequate flex and edge grip, and skiers who favor groomed runs versus off-piste powder lean toward opposite ends of the sizing range. This calculator takes your height and skill level to recommend an appropriate ski length range.
