About this calculator

This tool converts the price and quantity of two products into a common price per unit — per gram, per liter, per item, whatever unit fits — so you can compare them on equal terms even when the package sizes are completely different. A bigger package isn't automatically the better deal, and manufacturers frequently change pack sizes specifically to make direct comparison harder at a glance.

Shoppers use it standing in a supermarket aisle to decide between, say, a 750 g jar and a 1.2 kg jar of the same product at different prices, or between store brands and name brands. It's equally useful for bulk-buying decisions, subscription boxes, or any purchase where the listed total price alone doesn't tell you which option is actually cheaper.
