About this calculator

This tool encodes and decodes text using Base58, the alphabet made popular by Bitcoin, which uses 58 alphanumeric characters and deliberately excludes visually confusing ones — 0 (zero), O (capital o), I (capital i), and l (lowercase L) — so encoded strings are harder to misread or mistype.

Cryptocurrency developers and users encounter it in Bitcoin addresses and private key formats (WIF), and blockchain engineers use it when building or debugging wallet software that needs to encode raw bytes into a human-friendly string. Paste text or bytes to convert to Base58, or paste a Base58 string to decode it back.
