About this calculator

This tool looks up which countries officially use a given ISO 4217 currency code — the three-letter standard used worldwide for identifying currencies (like USD, EUR, or JPY). Some codes map to a single country (JPY → Japan), while others are shared across many — EUR is legal tender in the 20 eurozone countries, and USD is used or accepted as an official/secondary currency in a number of countries and territories beyond the United States, such as Ecuador and El Salvador.

Travelers, importers/exporters, currency traders, and developers building payment or e-commerce systems use this kind of lookup to confirm which markets a currency code applies to, to disambiguate currencies that share a name but not a code (like the several historical currencies called "dollar" or "franc"), and to correctly map currency codes to country-specific tax, pricing, or shipping rules.
