About this calculator

A group gift contribution split is simple division — the total cost of the gift divided by the number of people chipping in — but it's the calculation everyone reaches for when coworkers pool money for a wedding present, friends split the cost of a big birthday gift, or a family chips in together for a retirement or graduation present. It turns an awkward 'how much do I owe' conversation into one clear number.

Group organizers use it to set a fair per-person amount before collecting money, and it's just as useful when the group wants a round number (like $20 or $50 per person) and needs to check whether that covers the total, or how many more contributors are needed to hit the target.

This calculator takes the total gift cost and the number of contributors and returns each person's fair share.
