About this calculator
This calculator takes a bill total and a chosen tip percentage and works out both the tip amount and the grand total, then divides that total evenly across however many people are splitting the check. The math itself is a straightforward percentage calculation, but doing it in your head at a table after a meal is exactly the kind of quick arithmetic people prefer to skip.
It gets used constantly at restaurants, cafes, and bars, especially by groups where everyone wants to pay an equal share rather than working out who ordered what. It is also useful when tipping conventions differ from what someone is used to, since adjusting the percentage instantly shows how the total changes.
