Min/Mile to Min/Km Converter

About this calculator

Running pace is expressed differently depending on the measurement system — minutes per mile in the US and UK, minutes per kilometer almost everywhere else — and converting between them uses the fixed distance relationship 1 mile = 1.60934 km: pace(min/km) = pace(min/mile) ÷ 1.60934, and the inverse to go the other way, with the minutes-and-seconds format converted to decimal minutes first.

This calculator takes a pace in minutes and seconds and a conversion direction, and returns the equivalent pace in the other unit. Runners training with a mile-based watch or app but racing a kilometer-based event (or vice versa) use it to translate their goal pace into whatever unit their GPS watch or race pacing chart displays, and coaches use it to write training plans that work for athletes coming from countries that use different pace conventions.
