About this calculator

A gross annual salary hides two things that matter for understanding what you actually earn: taxes and other withholdings taken out of each paycheck, and the real number of hours worked to earn it (including unpaid overtime, if any). Net hourly wage divides your after-tax take-home pay by the actual hours worked per year, giving a truer picture than simply dividing salary by a nominal 2,080-hour work year.

This figure is especially revealing for salaried employees who regularly work beyond a standard 40-hour week, since the same salary spread over more hours produces a lower real hourly rate. This calculator takes your gross annual salary, an effective tax rate, and your actual hours worked and returns your net hourly wage — useful for comparing a salaried offer against an hourly one, or for understanding what unpaid overtime is really costing you.
