About this calculator

Your paycheck starts from gross pay for the period and works down through a series of deductions — income tax withholding, Social Security and Medicare (or the local equivalent payroll taxes), and any pre-tax or post-tax benefits like retirement contributions or health premiums — to arrive at net, or take-home, pay. Each of those withholdings is calculated on a per-pay-period basis using rates and thresholds set for that pay frequency.

This calculator walks through that same chain: starting from gross pay for a period, subtracting taxes and other deductions, and returning the net amount that actually lands in your bank account. It's the calculation employees use to sanity-check a pay stub, compare job offers with different pay frequencies, or estimate the take-home effect of changing a withholding election or benefit contribution.
