About this calculator

Pizza sauce coverage scales with the pizza's area, not its diameter — since area grows with the square of the radius, a 16-inch pizza needs roughly 1.8× the sauce of a 12-inch one, not just a third more. The usual way to plan sauce is a target density, expressed in ounces or grams of sauce per square inch of dough.

This calculator takes the pizza's diameter and finds its area (π × r²), then multiplies by your sauce density to tell you exactly how much sauce to portion out. It's handy for pizzerias standardizing recipes across sizes and home cooks who want consistent sauce coverage whether they're making a personal 10-inch pizza or a large 18-inch one.
