About this calculator

The product of a list is what you get by multiplying every number in a set together rather than adding them, written mathematically with the capital-pi notation ∏ the same way a sum uses capital sigma ∑. It's a simple operation, but doing it by hand across more than a handful of numbers gets error-prone fast, especially with decimals or negative values where a single sign error flips the entire result.

The calculation shows up in statistics when computing a geometric mean (the nth root of a product of n values, used for averaging rates like investment returns or growth percentages), in finance when chaining together multiple period-over-period growth factors to find compounded change, and in combinatorics and programming whenever a running product — like a factorial — needs to be built up across a list of values.

This calculator multiplies every number you enter and shows the total product alongside how many values were included.
