About this calculator

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is an 84-amino-acid peptide secreted by the parathyroid glands that raises blood calcium by mobilizing it from bone, increasing renal reabsorption, and activating vitamin D — its level is a key test in diagnosing hyperparathyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, and chronic kidney disease-related bone disorders. Labs report it in either mass units (pg/mL) or molar units (pmol/L) depending on the country and assay, which makes unit confusion a real risk when comparing results across labs.

The conversion uses PTH's molecular weight of roughly 9,400 daltons, giving the factor 1 pg/mL = 0.106 pmol/L (equivalently, 1 pmol/L ≈ 9.43 pg/mL). This calculator converts a PTH value in either direction so results from different reference ranges can be compared directly; as with any lab-value tool, it is informational only and not a substitute for a clinician's interpretation.
