About this calculator

A ramp-up warm-up builds toward a working weight through a series of progressively heavier sets at fixed percentages of that top weight — commonly around 40%, 55%, 70% and 85% — rather than jumping straight from the bar to a heavy working set, which both primes the neuromuscular system to produce force at higher intensities and lets you groove technique at increasing load before it matters most.

Powerlifters, weightlifters and general strength trainees use a structured percentage-based ramp because guessing at warm-up jumps either wastes energy with too many unnecessary sets or under-prepares the nervous system by jumping too large a percentage between steps — a consistent ramp scheme also makes warm-up time predictable, which matters under a meet clock or a busy gym.

This calculator takes your working weight and returns a ramp-up warm-up plan with the weight for each step leading to it.
