About this calculator

A drop set pushes a muscle past normal failure by immediately reducing the weight — typically by 10-25% per step — and continuing reps without rest as soon as you fail at the previous load, repeated for two or more drops in a single set. Because the weight reduction is expressed as a percentage rather than a fixed number, the same drop-set structure scales correctly whether you're working with a barbell, dumbbells, or a machine stack.

Bodybuilders and hypertrophy-focused lifters use drop sets at the end of a workout or on isolation exercises to extend time under tension and recruit additional muscle fibers once straight sets alone stop being productive, and mapping out the exact weight at each drop ahead of time removes the guesswork and rack-loading delay that would otherwise break the set's momentum.

This calculator takes your starting weight, the percentage drop per step and the number of drops, and returns the exact weight to load at each stage of the set.
