About this calculator

A finder's fee is a payment made to a person or firm that introduces two parties who go on to complete a deal — a broker who connects a buyer and seller, a recruiter who places a candidate, or a connector who brings an investor to a startup. Unlike a formal brokerage commission with regulated rates, a finder's fee is typically negotiated as a flat percentage of the total deal value, agreed on before the introduction is made.

Finder's fees show up across M&A, real estate, recruiting, and venture fundraising, and percentages vary widely by industry and deal size — larger deals often carry a lower percentage. This calculator takes the deal value and the agreed fee percentage and returns the dollar amount owed to the person who made the connection.
