About this calculator

Selling through Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) comes with two main fee types deducted from every sale: a referral fee, a percentage of the item price that varies by product category (commonly in the 8–15% range, though some categories differ), and a fulfillment fee, a flat charge based on the product’s size and weight tier that covers Amazon picking, packing and shipping the order from its warehouses.

Because these fees can easily consume a large share of revenue on lower-priced items, and the fulfillment fee jumps between size tiers in ways that aren’t obvious from the product price alone, Amazon sellers run this math before listing a product to make sure the margin actually holds up after fees, storage costs and cost of goods.
